The paintings are painted on Square and Golden Primed Mini-Golden Wild panels (220 x 136mm). These panels were originally made for Plein Air or Wild painting, and they fit into the Square & Golden Wildbox. Nine Shades of Grey - an exercise conducted to loo Nine Shades of Grey - an exercise conducted to look for a good frame for  for the hugely successful series of paintings by  Square and Golden Ambassador Tom Hoar on S&G Mini-Golden Primed Wild Panels. These paintings are for sale on the Artist Support Pledge scheme. I decided on three colours to use: White; Farrow and Ball Lamproom Grey and Farrow and Ball Downpipe. These nine frames show nine different combinations of the three colours using the available zones of the Mini-Golden Wild Frame. Wild frames are available in three sizes: Mini-Golden; Small Square, and Small Golden - each in either Raw timber (FSC® certified, of course) or Traditional Gesso. The chosen frame out of this exercise will be added to the range as a finished option. Square and Golden Studio Panels are made by a uniq Square and Golden Studio Panels are made by a unique process where a single piece of 6mm FSC® certified MDF board is routered and folded up around an FSC certified finger jointed Spruce sub-frame. This process has two main advantages: firstly that there are no actual joins on the facing edges of the panel; and second, that the box structure of the MDF has incredible strength even without the sub-frame, while retaining very light weight. The panels are available in two finishes on the front and sides, both of which are primed to prevent moisture ingress on the back. Raw Studio Panels are sanded but otherwise left unfinished allowing the user to apply a primer of their choice. Traditional Gesso Studio Panels are finished with a traditional rabbit skin glue based Gesso recipe which is unlike any other painting surface. Every size of Square and Golden Art Panel has a choice of at least two frames: one simple tray frame and one more elaborate tray frame. Frames are all available in either Raw finish or Traditional Gesso finish. Raw frames are sanded but otherwise left unfinished allowing the user to apply a finish of their choice.
